EDCI 62302 Early Childhood Developmental Foundations

This course helps students to understand the foundations of child development with a focus on the four developmental domains: physical development, cognitive development, social-emotional development, and language development. Students will identify the typical developmental milestones as well as influences on child development in different age groups (birth – 8). Students will become equipped with relevant child development knowledge that impacts curricular and behavioral decisions in the classroom, to be able to engage in evidence-based practices. Students will evaluate the influence of developmental factors on current educational issues and formulate a child development-based philosophical  and theoretical framework for their work with children.
