Accreditation
Northwest is a public institution of higher education and all active Northwest programs are approved by the Missouri Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development (MDHEWD).
Northwest is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
In addition to being accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, Northwest programs are accredited by:
- Association for Advancing Quality in Educator Preparation (AAQEP)
- Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND)
- Council for the Accreditation for Parks, Recreation, Tourism & Related Professions (COAPRT)

- National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC)

Northwest receives a certification from the American Chemical Society (ACS) for chemistry programs.
The Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity has been validated by the National Centers of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Program of Study Validation.
The Master of Science in Education in School Counseling received national recognition from the American School Counselor Association (ASCA).
The School of Education also maintains memberships in the following organizations:

- Missouri Association of Colleges for Teacher Education (MACTE)
