A comprehensive program that prepares individuals to teach music at the K-12 education level, especially instrumental music and elementary and secondary general music.
Requirements
The Northwest Core (44-47 hours)
Directed Northwest Core Requirement: must achieve a grade of C or better in each.
Institutional Requirements (4 hours)
Music Core (28 hours)
Recital Attendance Requirement: MUS 19299 must be taken for 6 semesters. This course is an activity credit and does not carry academic credit.

Students must take MUS 19483 General Music Methods and MUS 19482 Methods in Secondary School Instrumental Music as part of their professional education requirements.
Free electives as needed to reach minimum 120 graduation hours
This major, when completed under the B.M.E. Program, will meet Missouri teacher certification standards for Instrumental Music grades K–12.
