HIST 33532 History of the Atlantic World

This course asks how history of the early modern period of contact, conquest, and colonization is different if we use an Atlantic lens to frame our questions and analysis. Students will engage with transnational histories that put Africa, Europe, and the Americas in conversation with one another as parts of the same larger historical systems. This course will emphasize the social, cultural, and economic transformation of the region.
