EDUC 61699 Capstone Seminar

This course is designed to learn how classroom- or school-level action research can contribute to analysis of student learning and teacher instruction that best benefits students. During this course, candidates can expect to complete an action research project that will contribute to and inform their work as a leader in curriculum and instruction in their setting. The candidates in this course identified a classroom/ school problem or question, described the research setting and participants, written a literature review, posed action research questions, and chosen a strategy for implementation during the Academic Inquiry course. In the Capstone Seminar, the action research will be completed. Data will be collected and analyzed in systematic ways. The final steps of the action research include writing about implications for teaching and learning and thinking about further questions based on the research conducted. This course results in a written action research project. Data analyzed in this class must be anonymized. Results from this course are not generalizable and may not be published or disseminated for scholarly peer review. This classroom project activity is for ongoing quality improvement of teaching practices.
