ART 13317 Modern and Contemporary Art

An examination of the major themes and protagonists in art, architecture, and visual culture from the late 19th century to the present, or from Post-Impressionism to Contemporary. The course emphasizes in-depth visual and theoretical analysis of artworks as well as comparative cultural study, with close attention paid to social, historical, political, and ideological contexts.  Prerequisites: ART 13109 and ART 13111, both with a minimum grade of C, or permission of instructor for non-majors/minors. (F, odd years)
