2023-2024 Undergraduate Catalog

Chemistry Major, 63-66 hours: B.S.—No Minor Required

CIP: 400501

Areas of Emphasis: General and Biochemistry

This degree program is designed to give students the opportunity to study in chemistry with several areas of concentrations (emphasis) that allow students to tailor the major to their individual interests and specific academic needs. While the General emphasis provides students with a broader chemistry background, the Biochemistry emphasis will provide training for a future career and/or graduate level training in biochemistry, cellular/molecular biology, and biotechnology and also prepares students for admission to professional schools (Medicine, Optometry, Pharmacy etc.). The core courses are required of all students, and each emphasis area has additional specific requirements.
