Methodology
- ENGL 10580 is required of and limited to students with no previous course in English methods.
Language, Literature, and Writing Electives
- English Department 500-and 600-level electives to total 6 credits.
- ENGL 10590 and ENGL 10501 are required for state licensing; it is highly recommended that you take these courses as English electives if you have not already taken them.

- Students may complete 6 credit hours in another department or school.

Students enrolled in the M.S.Ed. in English program will be assigned two advisors: a graduate faculty member in the School of Education and a graduate faculty member in the Department of Language, Literature, and Writing. The major advisor will assist students in approving and submitting the Degree Audit to the Graduate Office. When updates are complete, the student will be notified to review and agree to the Degree Audit. The major advisor must approve any additional changes to the student's Degree Audit by notifying the Graduate Office. Any course substitutions or other exceptions must be approved by the advisor in the School of Education.
Students seeking the M.S.Ed. in English will complete a portfolio and oral defense in the Department of Language, Literature, and Writing. In addition, students will complete a required assessment in the School of Education. Degree candidates must pass all portions of both assessments.
